Sedex welcomes Susan Barton to its Board as Non-Executive Director
Sedex is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Barton to the Sedex Board as a Non-Executive Director.
Susan brings over 20 years’ experience in strategy development, operational performance and business transformation built within the postal and professional services industries, having held leadership positions with the UK Post Office, PA Consulting and Accenture. She is an accredited mediator and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Susan joins the Sedex Board as an independent member to support the company’s strategy and direction in its pursuit to help businesses across the world embed responsible practices.
“Organisations need to recognise that consumers are becoming increasingly socially conscious. While in the past consumers may have been willing to turn a blind eye on the social and environmental impact of their choices to access a bargain, I think we’re reaching a tipping point where they will no longer make that trade off.”
This recognition feels more critical than ever in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and its potentially debilitating impact on businesses, as many organisations reviewed their supply chains against either significant drops or unprecedented increases in demand. “As we emerge from the lockdown, the question is about what the new normal looks like and how organisations build flexibility and resilience into their supply chains,” Susan confirms.
Susan believes that organisations understand these two fundamental shifts – consumers’ increasing interest in corporate responsibility, and the realisations borne of the pandemic – and that these are now driving forces in supply chain strategies.
“It is this changing market environment that makes me excited to join Sedex at this time. I am delighted to have the opportunity to play a part in delivering the new business strategy, and to support the vision of protecting supply chain workers and their communities around the world.” Susan will continue sitting on the Board and Audit & Risk Committee of Jersey Post alongside her role at Sedex.
The Sedex Board are delighted to welcome Susan to the business and look forward to her contributions.
