What is a Member Director?

As a membership organisation, SHL has an important mission to drive socially and environmentally sustainable practices in global supply chains. 

Member Directors sit on the SHL Board to represent businesses across global supply chains and keep our members’ needs at the centre of SHL. The SHL Board plays a key role in providing strategic input and direction to Sedex Information Exchange Limited (SIEL), which provides the Sedex Platform and other solutions, as a majority shareholder.

A vacancy for a new Member Director has come up for 2025.

Why become a Member Director?

  • Provide insight, guidance and practical direction to help businesses make supply chains more socially and environmentally sustainable.
  • Represent SHL members and be a voice for businesses’ supply chain sustainability needs on the SHL Board of Directors.
  • Gain an international perspective and expand your knowledge of the responsible sourcing industry, while also building experience in corporate governance.

Key dates

  • 7 April: Application period opens
  • 5 May: Application period closes
  • 19 May (week of): Shortlisted nominees informed that they are shortlisted; non-successful applicants updated
  • 27 May: Nominee shortlist published on the Sedex website, and shared to SHL members as part of the formal notice for the 2025 Annual General Meeting.
  • 24 June: Member Director election held at the 2025 Annual General Meeting.

The Member Director appointment will be announced directly after the SHL 2025 Annual General Meeting.
