Sedex partner with Vision360 India to support companies on Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR)
Sedex has recently partnered with Vision360 Management Consulting in India to support organisations through dedicated training and advice, with Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR), a new reporting format introduced by to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
What is Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR)?
In an effort to hold companies accountable to their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) responsibilities, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has introduced new requirements for the top 1000 companies (by market capitalisation) in the form of sustainability reporting.
The new reporting format, BRSR, aims to strengthen an organisations commitment to sustainability by linking the financial results of a company to its performance in ESG. This should make it easier for stakeholders, investors, and officials to access a standardised and more transparent view of a company’s sustainability. In a BRSR there are a total of 3 reporting sections:
| Section A | General disclosures This section requires information like Company Details, Operations, Employees, CSR details etc. |
| Section B | Management and process disclosures This section is aimed at helping businesses demonstrate the structures, policies and processes put in place towards adopting the NGRBC principles and core elements. |
| Section C | Principle-wise performance disclosures This section is aimed at helping businesses demonstrate their performance in integrating the Principles and Core Elements with key processes and decisions. The information sought is categorized as “Essential” and “Leadership”. While the essential level is expected from every business that has adopted these Guidelines, the leadership level is expected of businesses which aspire to progress to a higher level in their quest to be socially, environmentally, and ethically responsible. |
From FY 2022-23, the BRSR will be a mandatory requirement for those companies in the top 1000, however other listed companies can voluntarily submit a report.
