This year, we will invite brands, suppliers, NGOs and other stakeholders to discuss “The importance of being a responsible business”. Southeast Asian markets are facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges, and our members are currently addressing the complexities of labour rights, migrant labour, environmental pollution and audit. We hope to motivate companies to become leaders in ethical purchasing and overcome these risks and challenges.

At the conference, buyers and suppliers will share their supply chain practices, and our panel discussions will investigate a deeper and broader area of corporate social responsibility.

Workshop by ILO (International Labour Organisation) & Sedex

On the 2nd day of the conference (Nov 5th), we will hold the workshop with ILO to discuss the topic related to labour rights and decent work practice in the supply chain, which is also a great opportunity to learn about how to put ILO code into implementation. Walter Lin, Managing Director - Asia, Sedex

Walter joined Sedex in Dec 2007, he helped Sedex to open its first Asia office in Shanghai, China and build its presence and engagement with Sedex members, stakeholders and local industry community. He manages the overall strategy development and operation of Sedex in China and in recent years he put his focus on Sedex wider presence and expansion in other parts of Asia such as Southeast Asia and India sub-continent.

Prior to joining Sedex, Walter got over 15 years experiences in the area of supply chain management which covering the manufacturing and international trading sectors. He got rich understanding and insight of the different roles in the supply chain, from buyers to suppliers, from supply chain service providers to workers.

Vishal Londhe, Business Head - India, Sedex

Vishal work closely with companies in Indian subcontinent to understand their CSR needs and explain how Sedex services will help them. Vishal have been part of Sedex for nearly 5 years working and managing different teams to understand member needs and support in their queries. Vishal has delivered number of code of conduct and supplier onboarding projects with multinational corporations around the globe.


Hugh Van Es, Managing Director, Swarovski Gemstones (Thailand) Ltd

For the past 25 years I have been working in the manufacturing field in Thailand in multinational companies and since June 2014 as Managing Director of Swarovski Gemstones Thailand, a manufacturing operation of the Swarovski Gemstones Business. In addition to its famous crystals, Swarovski has been producing calibrated, precision-cut genuine gemstones and created stones for many decades, offering a unique, balanced selection of products made from the purest raw materials. Each stone is crafted to satisfy the strictest standards for quality, color, size, and shape. Esther Tsang, Ethical Trade Manager, The Body Shop International Limited

Esther is an Ethical Trade Manager at The Body Shop, a global retailer of naturally inspired, ethically produced beauty products.  She works towards improving the labour conditions in The Body Shop supply chain and empower suppliers in creating positive impact through responsible business practices.  Esther has a wealth of experience providing training and working with suppliers on improving their ethical performance in the operations. Before joining The Body Shop, she was the Product Safety & Social Compliance Manager at La-Z-Boy Inc where she setup their global CSR program from scratch. She also worked as the Program Manager for McDonald’s Supplier Workplace Accountability program.

Harsha V Reddy, Head of Global Sustainability, Indorama Ventures PCL

Harsha Reddy is the Head of Global Sustainability at Indorama Ventures PCL (IVL), where he oversees the company’s sustainability strategy. He is responsible for implementing policies and processes at IVL’s operations worldwide and delivering on the company’s sustainability commitments.

He is a qualified Company Secretary from India with over two decades of experience in sustainability, risk management, corporate governance, legal, statutory, regulatory and stock exchange compliance, and equity financing.

Prad Kerdpairoj, Human Rights Manager, Thai Union Group PCL

Prad is a Human Rights Manager of the Thai Union Group PCL, a global seafood leader with ambitious growth goals and a dedication to sustainability and innovation. He works toward towards the goal of eliminating labor rights abuse and unethical labor practices in Thai Union’s operations and supply chain.  Before the current employment, he worked with financial regulators and policymakers to promote financial access for poor people.

Sritharan Kandasamy, Senior Manager (Health, Safety & Environment), Hartalega Holdings Berhad

Mr. Sritharan Kandasamy as current role as Senior Manager in Hartalega Bestari Jaya, primary responsible for Health, Safety & Environmental Management in the Plant. He played a key role in improving Hartalega’s HSE related matters since 2012. Besides, he has vast knowledge, various expertise and experience in HSE since 1996. Contributed as a competent Safety and Health Officer for more than 20 Years and Managerial position for more than 15 Years in Health Safety and Environmental field . Under his management, various HSE Program had been implemented in the Plant to elevate or moving safety to next level by reducing accident in the plant over the years.

Bhawna Yadav, Regional Social and Human Rights Manager South Asia and ASEAN, Reckitt Benckiser Group plc (RB)

Bhawna is a competent and qualified Sustainability and Social professional. She has worked in both corporate and consultancy portfolios which brings the holistic views and experience for practical solutions and network in the arena of sustainability and social.

She also extends support to responsible resourcing team which handles natural raw materials such as palm oil, rubber latex, etc within this region. In addition, she supports the group in preparation of Human Rights section of Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) report.

She represents RB (within FMCG sector) as a member of India National Interpretation (NI) Working Group, for RSPO (Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil) principles and criterion. Also, she leads APAC hub for RB in AIM progress.

Previously she has worked as a Sustainability Consultant in Environment Resources Management (ERM) and has worked across number of sectors including consumer goods, energy, renewables, financial, logistics, chemical, IFC, World Bank, etc. These projects have covered a broad set of issues including social investment, water projects, due diligences, organizational development, third party investments.

Herdial Singh, Regional Director - Quality & Business Excellence, Agility Logistics Services Pte Ltd

Herdial Singh has been the Regional Director for Quality & Business Excellence for Agility Logistics for 10 years, and a Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) Board Member, and Treasurer, for 8 years.  As a subject-area specialist, with national and international experience in systematic process improvement and performance excellence, Herdial brings a broad range of competencies to Agility’s Quality, Compliance, Environmental, Health, Safety and Supply Chain Security systems.  He is responsible for new initiatives, training, and engagement systems and programmes within the region.

At the industry level, Herdial is active in TAPA Asia’s Change Control Council (CCB) and the World‐Wide Change Control Board (WWCCB) since 2012. He has conducted numerous TAPA Facility Security Requirements (FSR) and Trucking Security Requirements (TSR) training initiatives since 2011, and was TAPA APAC’s Training Working Committee Lead for 2014/2018.

Fredy Guayacan, Economist, International Labour Organization (ILO)

Fredy Guayacan is an Economist working with the ILO on corporate social responsibility in global supply chains, he is the manager of the programme Responsible Supply Chains in Asia, a joint programme between the EU, the OECD and the ILO aiming at increasing the understanding and knowledge on socially responsible labour practices in supply chains by generating knowledge (research), providing policy advice and facilitatingdialogue among relevant actors in targeted sectors across 6 countries in Asia. Prior to this assignment Fredy was the ILO’s Enterprises Specialist for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, leading the technical component of private sector development and the inclusion of decent work in it. Fredy has worked in different advisory and managerial capacities with different UN agencies, governments and a broad range of private sector and development actors in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. Fredy’s academic background includes a BSc and a MSc in Economics from the University of Gothenburg as well as a MA in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex where he graduated with distinctions.

Abdul Mottaleb, Managing Director, Global Sustainable Certification Services Ltd. (GSCS)

Abdul Mottaleb is the Managing Director of Global Sustainable Certification Services Limited (GSCS), local partner of CERES GmbH. He is the Social and management system expert & SAAS accredited lead trainer for SA 8000 auditor course. Mr. Mottaleb has 16+ years’ professional experience in the field of social compliance, ISO & OHS management system, Environment, Organic manufacturing industries (GOTS/OCS/RCS certification) & consumer product inspection. He has started the journey to contribute on sustainability of the earth from his study on Urban and Rural Planning (URP) and Environmental Sciences and participate on various certification program including industry exposers. Mr. Mottaleb, started his career in 2003 in renowned auditing company- Bureau Veritas Bangladesh. After that, he gained his experience in other certification bodies and manufacturing plants as well.
He has conducted more than 1500 audits in several industries across Asia, Africa and Middle East on different standards like Social CoC, SA 8000, BSCI, SMETA, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, 45001, OHSAS 18001, GOTS, OCS, RCS etc. Mr. Mottaleb has the auditing and training providing experiences in Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Mauritius, Middle East, Egypt, Tunisia, Myanmar, Thailand, Turkey etc.
Mr. Abdul Mottaleb educated on graduate program in Urban and Rural Planning (BURP) & master’s program on Environmental Sciences from public universities.
Mr. Mottaleb is delivering the professional Auditor/Lead Auditor Course on SA8000, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 & ISO 45001. He has trained over 350 textile professionals and management experts and still counting over the globe.
He is working in some training and capacity building with Jahangirnagar University, Department of Environmental Sciences.

Harold Hai, Vice President, TÜV Rheinland Hong Kong Ltd.

Mr. Harold Hai, Vice President of Customized Services of TÜV Rheinland group Asia Pacific Region located in Hong Kong who has been serving TÜV Rheinland for 12 years with the key focus on the 2nd party & 3rd party Audit and Certification (e.g. supply-chain social compliance audit, ESG/ GRI reporting & assurance, greenhouse/ carbon trading audits, biomass/ biofuel chain of custody, ISO Certifications).

Since as 2014, Harold put the great attention to grow the 2nd party supply-chain social and environmental compliance audit business for serving global brands whose suppliers/ factories not only in China but global geographic coverage. Allison Hudson, Director of Member and Customer Relations, Sedex

Allison joined Sedex in 2016 and is the Director of Client Services, managing a portfolio of over 900 Buyer (A) and Buyer/Supplier (AB) members globally. Allison has over 15 years’ experience in client services, account management, building strategic partnerships and business development.

Allison has a wealth of experience working with leading international corporates to manage organisational risk and is focused on understanding the needs of clients to deliver proactive solutions for managing supply chain risk. Allison is “not afraid to roll her sleeves up and get stuck in” and has been integral to Sedex’s successful delivery of key projects to drive continuous improvement, including the evolution of the SAQ, Forced Labour Indicator Reports and Risk Assessment.

Allison leads Sedex’s team of account management and ethical trade coordinators and is passionate about developing the skills within her team to continually meet our members’ needs and build trust and collaboration. Allison is a passionate home chef and loves to be social with friends and throw dinner parties.

Tony Wang, Marketing and Communications Manager, Sedex

Tony is responsible for the brand and marketing operation of Sedex in China. At the same time, he helps promote the expansion of Sedex in southeast Asian market, and gradually builds channels for further contact with local members and stakeholders.

Before joining Sedex, Tony focused on marketing and brand promotion for more than 6 years. He worked for leading software companies in China and also involved in the FMCG and Internet industry. Therefore, he has his own views on cross-industry market and brand communication. Tony graduated from the University of Leicester, UK with a master’s degree in mass communications, and once worked as a radio host for one year.
